Now entering week 6 here in Ukraine. So strange to think that i have been here this long. Time really does fly. Last week was holidays for the students here, so no teaching, but still a lot of language class. Last Friday I was able to celebrate my birthday by having a dinner-party at my host families house. it was really a lot of fun. My host mother Tanya deffinitely out-did herself by making all of my favorite foods, and the other peace corps volunteers and my language teacher were able to come over and help me celebrate. I got a little cold over the weekend, so slept a lot and helped around the house. It was very relaxing, and good to start the week afresh. I taught three classes today, will teach one tomorrow and one on Friday. We all head to Kyiv in about a week for site-placement (where we find out where we are going to be for the next two years, a little crazy) so I am excited for that.
It snowed here today... as in it is cold... but i prepared myself this weekend by going to the bazar with my host mom and picking out some new stylish Ukranian leather gloves. (my choppers don't really fit in, people always ask me about them) and my host mother made me a skarf for my birthday, so Ukranian winter, come on!
Hope everything is good where you all are, and take care!

great update, nice to read about your birthday party and how its going. so, in one week you get your site placement, yeoh!!!! that will be crazy. obviously we are very excited for you to find out, should be something. cannot imagine what its like for you, you will be fine, it is all part of THE plan, whatever that means, its all there.....at least I think its all there.
hope your teaching goes well this week, just remember, you're there, they don't care that you know what you are doing, its you they are interested in, why you are there, who you are, what your life back in america is like. being a good teacher will come, like good wine, and good whiskey, it all takes time.
love you,
dad

snowed in budapest today, sat in parent conferences all day watching it snow out the gym window, rather depressing really, no chance to ski for a long time. but home to the US in one month and the promise of snow there. we are on pins and needles to find out about where you will be and how we can get there and when we will come, etc. etc. I love the challenge of finding out how to get to some place like that. spent the last few days trying to figure out how to fly to st. moritz for the Engadin ski race in March. It will cost $500 for 24 hours of flying, renting a car, staying in a hotel and doing the race....not sure its worth it, but what the hell, who knows. stay in touch.

Seth-
While you are experiencing your birthday in the middle of the oncoming Ukrainian winter, I´ll be turning 23 in the D.R. and trying to avoid another tropical storm like the one that came through last week.
Interesting the different paths we take. Hope things are going well for you there. I get my site assignment on Monday. Training is dragging on, so I´m pretty excited.
take care,

Sethy-
Glad to hear things are going well for you, I think it's great that even though our family is so separated we can still keep up. Sorry bout the phone call cutting off, I need to buy a better phone card! Can't wait to hear where you will be posted (:
